Part of preparing for the upcoming Fashion Timeline exhibit has been creating illustrations charting the changing fashion silhouette. Above are thirty-five silhouettes showing hemlines rising and falling, skirts widening and narrowing, and waistlines moving up and down the body. Shoulders morph from sloping to broad and square, and hairstyles get piled high then pulled back tightly. There are a few men in there too, looking dapper no matter what the era. Everyone here at the museum has a favorite, how about you? Is there a particular fashion silhouette you just can’t get enough of?
